Investing Show: Is now a good time to buy emerging markets?

Emerging markets have bounced back, as sentiment has switched from pessimism to optimism.

Brave investors who took the plunge a year ago, have been handsomely rewarded with the AIC’s Global Emerging Markets sector showing investment trusts up by 39 per cent on average.

The pound’s fall will flatter earnings from such overseas investments, but at the same time it has made buying into them more expensive.

So which emerging markets offer the best opportunities and what should UK investors do in light of sterling’s fall? Justin Urquhart Stewart takes a look at emerging markets and how to weigh up different regions prospects – including the one part of the investing map where he suggests the developed world’s problems are much less of an issue.

Meanwhile, in the first part of the show, US earnings, how many shares investors need and tips from Warren Buffett come into focus.

All eyes are on the US election, but companies are also delivering their third quarter results. Richard Hunter takes a look at why US earnings matter to UK investors, while Simon Lambert discusses how many shares investors should hold, and Nick Batsford delivers his second part of Buffett lessons.
