Marcus Rashford is reportedly set to meet with Manchester United’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his leadership group for crunch ‘showdown talks’ over his future at Old Trafford.

Reports this week claimed that the Red Devils were set for a total overhaul of their first-team. The Telegraph had claimed that the club were open minded about which players could leave this summer, with Mail Sport also revealing that selling Rasford was an option.

The England forward has largely failed to live up to his 30-goal haul of last season, finding the back of the net just eight times accross all competitions this season. Rashford has also struggled with off-field issues too after he was spotted in a Belfast night club in January and subsequently missed training.

But according to The Sun, it seems Man United’s new co-owners are keen to keep the England star at the club. The outlet suggests that while Rashford has cut a dejected figure of late, ‘Ratcliffe has not given up on him’ and intends to understand why Rashford has struggled recently.

The report also claims that Sir Dave Brailsford may lead the talks between Rashford, his representatives and the club, with INEOS hoping that the discussions can repair any rifts that may have developed between Rashford and his manager Erik Ten Hag.

The Sun had also claimed that Rashford will ‘oppose any attempts to sell him this summer’.

The Dutchman had opted not to pick Rashford for their FA Cup Clash against Newport County in January after he was pictured in a night club in Belfast – with the Red Devils dealing with the matter internally.

After the incident, Ten Hag had warned Rashford and his players that they need to ‘learn how to behave’ and urged professionalism among his squad.

Despite that the Dutch manager has continued to back his £315-a-week star after Rashford recently spoke out against abuse that he had received online.

The forward had last week responded to a social meida post that had claimed the online abuse he had recieved from fan accounts was ‘cruel’.

Rashford said: ‘I appreciate your support! It is abuse and it has been [like this] for months. Enough is enough.’

Ten Hag, meanwhile, stood by his forward, saying: ‘I have a lot of sympathy for Rashy, of course.’

‘Last year he had a brilliant season, the best season of his career scoring 30 goals so you see what he is capable of.

According to The Telegraph, just three players are safe - and Bruno Fernandes isn't one of them

Speculation has mounted this week that the club are willing to cash in on their entire squad – with the exception of three players

‘This season he didn’t give the performances and people are very critical. I think we have to back him.

‘Everyone should back him and push him to get back to the levels he was last year.’

Ten Hag has since branded reports that United could be set to undergo a huge overhaul of their squad as ‘totally c***’.

‘As long as I’ve worked here, every summer, every window, I think 200 players are getting interest from Manchester United. We did some research. Untrue,’ he said on the reports, while calling them a ‘joke’.

‘And also every summer we sell all of the players in our squad, so you (in the media) are making all of the headlines, which is untrue.

‘I think be calm and also take some responsibility when you make such a headline. Think, find a good source if there is some truth in it and this is totally c***.’

Rashford, meanwhile, is unlikely to return to Premier League action against Crystal Palace on Monday, after he was taken off during Man United’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry with an injury.

‘I can’t tell (when he will be back),’ Ten Hag said. ‘So, it was last week absence against Sheffield, after Coventry, so far his issue hasn’t healed.’
