Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has fueled talk of a move to Manchester United with his activity on social media.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and though the midfielder has attracted interest from across Europe, United are leading the race for his signature.

Grealish landed himself in hot water last month when he was forced to apologise for flouting lockdown measures in the UK but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains convinced of the midfielder’s ability and he’s been impressed by Grealish’s attitude and professionalism for Villa this term.

And the Villa captain has done little to dampen talk of a move to the Theatre of Dreams by ‘liking’ one of United’s posts on Instagram on Thursday.

Grealish endorsed United’s rewind post of their 4-0 win over Chelsea from the opening weekend of the season, where Marcus Rashford’s brace was followed by goals from Anthony Martial and Daniel James.

‘These four goals capped off the perfect Premier League opening weekend,’ the post read.

United will be hoping it’s the hint they’ve been looking for from Grealish, as supporters are excited by the prospect of a midfield including the 24-year-old, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.

However, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward appeared to warn supporters last month not to expect big money transfers this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Nobody should be under any illusions about the scale of challenge facing everyone in football and it may not be ‘business as usual’ for any clubs, including ourselves, in the transfer market this summer,’ Woodward said in his opening address to a United Fans’ Forum.

‘As ever our priority is the success of team, but we need visibility of the impact across the whole industry, including timings of the transfer window, and the wider financial picture, before we can talk about a return to normality.’
