Kanye West has been expected to pay a visit to the Joe Rogan Experience for a very long time, his appearance repeatedly confirmed and cancelled, until most listeners gave up on the idea.
But it looks like the much-anticipated meeting of the two strange celebrities might finally be happening, as West tweeted out a confirmation on Saturday, writing:
“Joe Rogan said it’s cool for me to design the set for our podcast this Friday.”
This has yet to be confirmed by Rogan himself, but let’s keep our fingers crossed – the combination of the eccentric artist and affable stoner might make for a genuinely interesting conversation (and if West wants to replace Rogan’s odd, low-budget Tron decor, that can’t possibly be a bad thing).
Rogan’s open-minded attitude tends to make his guests relax, and open up in a way that formal interview settings simply aren’t designed to do. For example, when West appeared on Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman, watched by a studio audience, edited and polished, the result was painfully dull.
Perhaps the smoky, intoxicating interior of the Joe Rogan Experience could prompt West to deliver his raw, unfiltered opinion – even more so than usual. They could discuss West’s half-hearted presidential campaign, and his (genuinely interesting) vendetta against the record industry, which prompted West to urinate on one of his own Grammy trophies, and post footage of the incident on Twitter.
Indeed, if the podcast is half as entertaining as a single scroll through West’s Twitter feed, this might go down in history as one of the most enjoyably unhinged episodes of all time.
