Borna Sosa is a Croatian professional football player who plays for Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart and the Croatia national team as a left-back or a left-wing-back. He started playing football for the youth team of Dinamo Zagreb in 2005 and began his career at the club. He made his Prva HNL debut for the club on 7 March 2015. He made his European debut on 12 July 2016 in the Champions League second qualifying round. On 14 May 2018, he signed a five-year-contract with VfB Stuttgart, enabling him to transfer to Stuttgart on 1 July 2018. He made his debut for the club on 26 August 2018. 

On the international level, he has represented Croatia at various age levels. He has represented Croatia at U14, U15, U16, U17, U18, U19, U21, and the senior level. He has represented Croatia U17 at the 2015 UEFA U17 Euro and the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup. In May 2018, he was named in a preliminary 32-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia but did not make the final 23. He was then named in Nenad Gracan’s squad for the UEFA U21 Euro 2019 and Igor Biscan’s squad for the UEFA U21 Euro 2021. However, he was ruled out of the latter squad at the last minute due to a knee injury. He made his senior international team debut for Croatia on 1 September 2021.

  • On 16 December 2019, he scored his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw against Darmstadt. During his 2019-20 season, he made 13 appearances for the club, scoring once and providing 3 assists in all the competitions as VfB Stuttgart was promoted to the Bundesliga next season.
  • On 27 November 2020, he extended his contract until 2025. His 2020-21 season was a breakthrough season for him as he found his form and consistency in Pellegrino Matarazzo’s 3-4-2-1 formation. During that season, he made 28 appearances for the club, providing 10 assists in all the competitions.
