ORLANDO, Fla. – In a significant development, Orlando police announced on Monday the arrest of a 16-year-old involved in a “gang-related” shooting that left four juveniles injured. The unsettling incident occurred on February 15 in the Parramore neighborhood, close to downtown Orlando.
The police were dispatched shortly before 1 p.m. to the 400 block of South Parramore Avenue, responding to reports of a shooting at Sister Soul Food restaurant. Upon arrival, they found the young victims suffering from gunshot wounds, a grim scene reflecting the violence that had just unfolded.
The chaotic aftermath of the shooting extended beyond the injuries. Bullets ripped through the restaurant, narrowly missing a woman by tearing through her hair bun. The gunfire also shattered windows, punctured a television, and even pierced a food container, illustrating the indiscriminate nature of the violence.
In a statement released Monday evening, the police described the incident as a result of a gang-related conflict. Multiple individuals reportedly exchanged gunfire before scattering in different directions, adding to the confusion and danger of the situation.
Further investigation revealed that Cody Doggett returned to the tumultuous scene mere moments after the initial shots were fired. Disturbingly, he proceeded to fire into the crowd that was attempting to aid the injured juveniles, with one of his bullets critically injuring a victim by striking them in the head.
The police identified the victim as a known gang member involved in the dispute, confirming them as part of a rival gang to the shooter. This revelation sheds light on the underlying tensions fueling the violence, as detailed in the police report.
Witness BrekenCur Akins said bullets “shot through the bun, went through the TV, into the wall,” describing people screaming and scrambling for cover, including children and older adults who dropped to the floor.
Three of the other juveniles suffered non‑life‑threatening injuries. All were taken to a nearby hospital.
Doggett was arrested and faces a charge of attempted first‑degree murder with a firearm.
