Cosco 2-Step Kitchen Stepper recall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — More than 300,000 kitchen stools were recalled after two people fell and suffered head injuries.

The Cosco 2-Step Kitchen Stepper, equipped with a safety bar at the rear, is under recall due to safety concerns. The recall notification mentions 34 incidents where the safety bar either detached or broke.

These problematic stools were available for purchase between February 2021 and July 2025 at various outlets like Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and BJ’s Wholesale Club. They were also available online at websites such as Amazon.com, Wayfair.com, and Overstock.com. The stools are identifiable by their colors – blue, navy, green, or white/gray – and feature the Cosco logo molded on the step handle.

The recall includes several model numbers, which are printed on a label on one of the arms.

Consumers are advised to discontinue use of the step stools right away and reach out to the manufacturer for a complimentary repair kit. Out of the 34 reported incidents, two led to head injuries, as per the recall report.
