AUGUSTA, Ga. () – A recent University of Florida graduate came up with a “simple, yet impactful idea” to bring joy to children at the Ronald McDonald House in Augusta.

Hailing from Evans, Ga., Alex Miles aimed to uplift the morale of the children and their caregivers by donating sports jerseys, drawing inspiration from his own childhood passion for sports.

Miles collaborated with a local group of Retired Sergeants Majors (E9s) to create “Team RMHR9.” This initiative is dedicated to covering the expenses involved in acquiring the jerseys, as well as the costs for dry cleaning, packaging, and delivery.

This month, the team was able to deliver those items and bring comfort to the families.

“Providing team jerseys to children and families at Ronald McDonald House is about far more than clothing—it’s about comfort, connection, and community,” said retired CSM Sheldon Moorer.

“The teamwork gathered by Alex shows each of the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House that there is a caring community there to support them through the challenges of having a child in the hospital,” said David Jacobsen, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Augusta said.
