MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) — A village in Central Illinois is continuing to grow, and so has the number of businesses.

Mahomet is welcoming a new Country Inn and Suites hotel located just off Interstate 74. This development is a component of the village’s Comprehensive Redevelopment Plan for Prairieview Road and the East 150 corridor, which has been actively progressing for several months.

Village Administrator Patrick Brown said that the new development benefits the community and the school district, too.

“When you foster commercial growth, as the Village of Mahomet has been focused on in recent years, it doesn’t involve educating school children. This aspect plays a vital role in how the district evaluates these properties,” Brown explained.

He added that the community response has been great. The redevelopment plan is all about trying to keep things local.
