BVPD: 19-year-old in Abingdon charged with possession of child pornography

BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — A 19-year-old resident of Abingdon faces numerous charges related to child pornography after law enforcement officers searched and confiscated several computers from him.

Arron Courtney, 19, was arrested at his residence in the 400 block of Clinton Avenue on Friday.

According to the Bristol Virginia Police Department (BVPD), Courtney has been charged with one count of possessing child pornography, along with four additional counts for possession as a second or subsequent offense.

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Bristol, Virginia Police Department, in collaboration with the police department in Abingdon, Virginia, found incriminating evidence on Courtney’s computer following a cyber alert from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force.

The BVPD said, “Several computers and other electronic devices were seized during the search.”

Courtney is being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond. Further charges are anticipated as the investigation continues, the BVPD said.
