Julian McMahon, an actor best known for his performances in FBI: Most Wanted, the Fantastic Four movies from the 2000s, Nip/Tuck, and Charmed, has died following a private struggle with cancer.

The news was first reported by Deadline.

“Julian cherished life. His family meant everything to him, as did his friends, career, and fans. His greatest desire was to bring happiness to as many people as he could. We appreciate the support during this time as our family mourns privately. We hope those who found joy in Julian continue to find joy in life. We treasure the memories,” expressed his wife, Kelly McMahon, in a statement to an entertainment news outlet.

McMahon was born in Sydney, Australia, on July 27, 1968. His father served as the Prime Minister of Australia from 1971 to 1972.

First starting out as a model, McMahon transitioned into acting and starred in Australian daytime soap operas and movies before moving to Hollywood.

In 1993, he took on a role in NBC’s “Another World” and later secured a part on “Charmed” playing Cole Turner. He also portrayed Dr. Christian Troy in Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed plastic surgery drama “Nip/Tuck,” a character that spanned six seasons and earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

Marvel fans will know McMahon as Dr. Doom in the 2005 “Fantastic Four” movie and the 2007 sequel “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”

For his final role, McMahon played the Australian Prime Minister in the Netflix series “The Residence.”
