Aiken County man faces additional sexual assault charges

CSRA – A man from Aiken County, initially apprehended in August for multiple offenses, now faces additional allegations, as reported by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division on Wednesday.

Tyrone James, aged 50, was originally detained on charges including assault, kidnapping, and criminal sexual conduct involving a minor.

On October 29, authorities from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division revealed that James has been charged with further offenses, including another count of kidnapping, third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct in the third degree, related to incidents on October 24.

According to the arrest warrants, James is accused of having coerced a minor into a vehicle and committing sexual assault back in 2008 in Barnwell County. Another warrant implicates him in a separate sexual assault incident that occurred in 2017.

James is currently held at the Aiken County Detention Center.

The investigation saw the involvement of the Blackville Police Department, which called upon SLED for assistance.
