AIKEN, Sc () – Hundreds of kids ran around Perry Memorial Park gathering all the eggs for their Easter baskets.
The egg hunt was organized into three groups for the kids from ages 1-3, 4-7 and 8-10 years old.
Parents were there cheering their kids on as Aiken Firefighters dropped handfuls of eggs.
Dez Wilson, Recreation Program Coordinator at Odell Weeks, said, “We were hoping for a turnout like this. In past years it’s been rained out and had to be moved so it’s really nice, we’re excited to bring it to Perry Memorial Park great space and we’re really happy to have it here.”
There was games, music, food and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.
A first timer at the event, Karly McKenna, explains more about the experience with her children.
“We normally go out of town for this so we’re very excited to finally be able to make it this year. It’s been so much fun, we already had the 1 to 3 year old egg hunt and the girls got so many eggs they had a blast.”
The kids were also able to meet the Easter Bunny and take pictures with him.
McKenna says it was great to be able to have the whole family together to see her two daughters collect eggs and do all of the other activities that were offered.
“We all love coming together to see everything, see the girls have such a fun time, my in-laws came from out of town with us and then my mom from in town met us too so we’re all here together having a blast.”
The Aiken community Easter Egg Hunt is an annual event held the weekend before Easter.
