Authorities uncovered a suspected human sex trafficking ring at a hotel in San Jose, leading to the arrest of three individuals, as per the San Jose Police Department.

On October 1, law enforcement inspected the Caravelle Inn located on North First Street. “Evidence revealed an intricate sex trafficking scheme involving hotel employees and several survivors who had been residing there over a prolonged period.”

The three individuals, accused of orchestrating the illegal activities, face charges of pimping, pandering, and conspiracy. The suspects have been named by SJPD as Cong Tien Nguyen, 62, Qi Hong, 45, and Rizaldy Mariano, 50.

During the execution of a search warrant, officers recovered $30,000 in cash. The department’s Human Trafficking Task Force identified six victims and provided them with support. Additionally, two adults were cited and released for solicitation.

The investigation commenced following numerous public complaints regarding the Caravelle Inn, which is situated close to San Jose Mineta International Airport.

City authorities are committed to tackling all illegal activities and resolving issues related to the area surrounding the hotel, confirmed SJPD spokesperson Stacie Shih.

The Caravelle Inn investigation is part of SJPD’s broader strategy for cracking down on human trafficking in advance of Super Bowl LX, which will be hosted at Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 8, 2026.

Mayor Matt Mahan said, “Large bustling crowds and activity can become a magnet for bad actors, so we’re acting early to stop human traffickers and send a clear message that we will not allow exploitation in San Jose.”

Police Chief Paul Joseph said, “As multiple major sporting events quickly approach next year, I want to make it loud and clear that these illegal operations have no place in our city. We will stop at nothing to shut them down and protect our most vulnerable community members.”
