Another Chance hosts third annual Walk for the Homeless

HINESVILLE, Ga. () — Hundreds got together Saturday morning for the third annual Walk for the Homeless in Hinesville.

Another Chance Outreach Ministries (ACOM) held their yearly Walk for the Homeless to raise awareness about homelessness, families in need, and homeless students.

According to Irving White, CEO of ACOM, Liberty County has seen an increase in homeless students, nearing 1,600 affected individuals and children.

“It’s going to worsen before it improves,” says White. “The reason for this is that funding for various shelters and services providing aid to the homeless is being reduced, as stated by the federal government.”

White explains that these federal program cuts are leading the community to collaborate and join forces with external resources to assist those facing homelessness. To White, resolving this issue requires a solution involving the federal government, businesses, and individuals working together.
