Atrium on Eighty taking donations for families of two children who passed

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Vigils are being held for two children who died last week in tragic incidents.

On May 29, 4-year-old Landyn Ahmir Wilkerson died due to what investigators in Statesboro are describing as an accidental gunshot wound inflicted by himself. The Statesboro Police Department reports that evidence indicates Wilkerson gained access to a firearm that was not securely stored and unintentionally fired it.

In another tragic incident, 9-year-old Emily Grace Mayo was killed on May 27 in what authorities are calling a murder-suicide. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation states that 37-year-old James Lee Mayo fatally shot his daughter in the parking area of Brooklet City Park before committing suicide.

The community is encouraged to support the families of Emily Grace Mayo and Landyn Ahmir Wilkerson by bringing food and paper goods to the Atrium on Eighty, situated at 22700 US-80, Statesboro. The facility will be available for the families after each service, with the dates and times specified below.

A GoFundMe has also been started to help Landyn’s family during this difficult time.
