MARTINEZ, Ga. () – It’s back to school season in the CSRA and one local business is wanting to help prepare your students for the new school year.

The Augusta Barber Lounge is hosting a back-to-school bash this Sunday from 11 AM to 2 PM. The event welcomes all students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, offering free school supplies, haircuts, and more.

“The community and the people make such an impact on us we wanted to try and help out and do the same thing in return,” said Isaac White, Owner of Augusta Barber Lounge. “So, the back-to-school bash is just about getting kids ready for the first day of school. If you look good, you do good, you feel good. And then adding on all the school supplies.”

876 Island Cuisine will be at the event, helping give away school supplies as well as free food.

“We always give back, that’s just our goal and because without the community we would not be here so,” said Keith Johnston, Owner of 876 Island Cuisine. “We try to give back as much as possible. So, that’s why we’re trying to give away some food this Sunday, some bags, books, and all of those things to help the kids go back to school.”

Owner of the Augusta Barber Lounge, Isaac White, is a parent and understands the challenges of preparing kids for the upcoming school year.

“I am a parent of 5, so understanding that battle and what it’s like to prepare kids and just get them ready to go back is a challenge of itself and so just to take a little bit of that weight off of people,” said Isaac White, Owner, Augusta Barber Lounge.

Another barber is happy to help the children coming through with not only the school supplies and haircuts but be a mentor as well.

“Everyone that sits in your chair you get to be their therapist, doctor, father figure, big brother,” said Nolan Marshall – Barber, Augusta Barber Lounge. “To me being a big brother, I’m only 24. So, you know I get to be a big brother to those.”

You can donate school supplies at the Augusta Barber Lounge for the event until this Friday if you are interested.

Barbers from Augusta Barber Lounge will also be at a back to school bash this Saturday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on 2526 Lumpkin Road from 8 AM to 10 PM, but the even last until 12PM.
