AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for allegedly shooting into an occupied vehicle in Augusta early Saturday.
The RCSO reported that deputies arrived at a home on Reese Avenue after receiving a call about a vehicle being hit by bullets at 12:39 a.m. on July 19. According to the sheriff’s office, the people in the car recounted that a verbal dispute had occurred at a convenience store on Peach Orchard Road, and as they were driving back, several gunshots were fired at their vehicle.
An infant was also present in the car at the time of the shooting, as noted by the police. Thankfully, no one was injured, and investigators came to the location to gather evidence.
The same day, at 4:47 p.m., RCSO deputies pulled over Rodriquez Brown at Bahama Drive, who was taken into police custody and arrested.
Brown faces the following charges:
- Felony Trafficking fentanyl
- Felony Possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
- Felony Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- Felony Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Felony Possession of a machine gun (illegal conversion device)
- Felony Obstruction of a law enforcement officer
According to officials, additional charges are pending.
“This type of reckless and violent behavior will never be tolerated in Richmond County,” Sheriff Eugene Brantley said in a statement on the incident.
The official stated, “I praise the officers from the Road Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division, Intel Division, and Crime Suppression Team for their collaboration in swiftly resolving this issue and preventing further violence in our community. I am particularly grateful that everyone, including the baby in the vehicle, was unharmed.”
