Augusta man sentenced to life without possibility of parole in domestic violence case

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – A local man from Augusta has received a life sentence following a jury’s guilty verdict on several domestic violence charges, the District Attorney’s Office revealed on Thursday.

District Attorney Jared Williams reported that 45-year-old Jameel Thomson faced trial this week for two separate assaults on his romantic partner. The first incident occurred on March 16, 2021, involving a severe beating, and the second on August 8, 2022, involved kidnapping and a shooting.

Details from the report indicate that during the 2021 attack, the victim sustained a fracture to her orbital eye bone. In the subsequent 2022 altercation, Thomson shot her in the shoulder, resulting in a shattered clavicle.

Thomson was convicted on all counts, including Kidnapping with Bodily Injury, Home Invasion, Hijacking a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Battery-Family Violence, and Aggravated Assault-Family Violence. On October 30, he was sentenced to life without parole.
