HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) — Early Sunday morning, authorities, accompanied by the local coroner, responded to a report of a small plane crash behind a residence in Ohio.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7 a.m. ET along King Graves Road NE in Howland, about 55 miles east of Akron.
Howland Police Chief Ray Pace said the 911 caller reported hearing a large explosion behind her home and seeing flames.
The incident was caught via a weather camera from the nearby Youngstown/Warren Regional Airport, which showed smoke rising from the location. As per Pace, the plane went down in a wooded area behind the house.
Nexstar’s WKBN observed the presence of crime scene tape around the site, as well as teams utilizing a drone, the Trumbull County HAZMAT unit, and assistance from a local electricity provider.

Multiple roads in the area have also been closed.
No additional details were immediately available.
