FHP seeking information on I-4 shooting

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking information regarding a highway shooting that happened earlier in May on I-4.

On the morning of Sunday, May 11, at approximately 6:30 a.m., individuals reported that a dark-colored sedan approached their vehicle and fired a shot. The bullet struck just below the front door handle on the driver’s side of their Ford Edge.

The sedan then drove up behind another vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, and followed it as it exited onto US-301.

The sedan fired on the Chevy, which continued on US-301 until colliding with a utility pole near Franklin Road.

After the crash, the occupants of the Chevy fled on foot and were chased by two masked assailants from the sedan.

The occupants were able to elude the assailants and only sustained minor injuries from the crash, but the suspects remain at large.

Evidence recovered from the scene indicated that both the Chevy and Ford were struck by .40 caliber bullets. No victims were wounded from gunfire.

FHP is asking anyone with information on this incident to contact them by calling *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
