BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A man has been taken into custody in Bloomington following allegations that he administered abortion-inducing medication to a pregnant woman without her permission.

Emerson Evans, 31, of Normal, has been arrested for intentional homicide of an unborn child, Bloomington police spokesman Bryce Janssen said.

He said that at approximately 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, the Bloomington Police and Fire departments went to a home on a report of a pregnant person having a medical emergency.

It was learned that Evans had allegedly given abortion-inducing drugs to the victim without her knowledge or consent, Janssen said. The victim experienced medical complications and suffered a miscarriage, resulting in the loss of her pregnancy.

He said Evans was later found and arrested. He remains in custody at the McLean County Jail.

This remains under investigation by the Bloomington Police Department and the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
