CHULUOTA, Fla. – A precautionary boil water notice was issued Monday for all Chuluota FGUA customers after a water treatment plant experienced low water pressure.
According to a news release, the issue arose due to a malfunction with one pump, which prevented another pump from maintaining adequate pressure throughout the system. Consequently, water pressure dropped below 20 psi.
Repairs were completed, and water service was fully restored at 8:20 a.m. Monday, however, due to the loss of pressure, a precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for all FGUA customers in Chuluota, affecting approximately 1,410 residents.
During this advisory, FGUA urges customers to adhere to guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Residents are advised to bring water intended for cooking or drinking to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use. This precaution will help eliminate any potential active viruses or bacteria that may have entered the water lines during the repairs. Alternatively, boiled water may be used.
The boil water advisory will remain in effect until water samples are analyzed by a Florida Department of Health-certified laboratory to confirm that the water is safe for consumption.
FGUA extends its apologies for any inconvenience caused by this outage and the subsequent advisory. For further information, customers can contact the FGUA Customer Service Office at (904) 990-1441 or visit the FGUA website.
