BREAKING: SPD obtains arrest warrants in Oglethorpe Mall shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – The Savannah Police Department, alongside the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office, has issued multiple arrest warrants related to the shooting on July 2 at the Oglethorpe Mall.

Two suspects, who are both minors, are currently receiving medical care at Memorial Health University Medical Center for injuries from the incident. They face serious charges, including felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, illegal possession of a handgun as they are under 18, and possession of a firearm during a crime.

After their release from the hospital, they will be arrested and taken directly to the detention center to await formal charges from the District Attorney. In order to protect the integrity of the investigation, the authorities have not yet disclosed the names and identities of those involved, but more information will be shared soon.

Chief of Police Lenny B. Gunther said, “The Savannah Police Department intends to hold all those involved in this senseless crime accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
