AUGUSTA, Ga ()- Two people were injured when their vehicle was shot at while they were driving on I-20 Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. close to mile marker 196 on Bobby Jones Expressway. Upon reaching the location, officers from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office discovered a gray Toyota Camry riddled with bullet holes.
The driver recounted to the police that he was traveling westbound on I-20 when a blue Tesla, operated by a white female, drove up beside him. He reported that a black male passenger in the Tesla brandished a gun and fired 5 to 6 shots at his vehicle.
After the shooting, the Tesla exited the highway via exit 194 on Belair Road in Columbia County. Police located the Tesla and apprehended the driver, but the male passenger fled the scene and is still being sought by the authorities.
The victim was shot once in his ankle and his passenger was shot once in her left shoulder. Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
No word on their conditions or the identities of either the victims or the suspects.
The incident is still under investigation.
