Brightside Child & Family Advocacy holds third annual Creating Brighter Futures event

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Community members gathered to celebrate those who make a significant impact on children in foster care at an event at the Ships at the Sea Maritime Museum on Tuesday night.

The event, known as Creating Brighter Futures, is organized annually by Brightside Child and Family Advocacy as a way to contribute to a brighter future for Chatham County’s foster youth.

The celebration included an award ceremony, a cocktail party, entertainment, and fundraising activities, all aimed at supporting programs that help local children succeed.

“It’s crucial to remember they need a community to support them when they’re removed from their home,” organizers emphasized. “We cannot accomplish this mission without community involvement.”

Community members who advocate for foster youth were recognized and the Judge John Beam Scholarship was presented at the event.

The scholarship is given to a young person in foster care pursuing post-secondary education.

Funds raised during the night will be allocated directly to programs providing advocacy, education, and support for local foster children, organizers explained.
