BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — On Tuesday evening, city officials in Bristol, Virginia, formalized a partnership between the city’s police department and the housing authority to enhance community safety through secure housing solutions.

The organization “Beyond Housing” clarifies its objective as providing families with safe, appealing, and affordable housing options, elevating their living standards within the city.

The partnership would provide “one part-time, qualified police officer” to conduct safety patrols at different housing complexes.

“Our police chief is very proactive,” stated Vice Mayor Jake Holmes. “He aims to address projects and potential issues before they manifest. The housing authority shares this approach. They’re eager to fulfill the community’s residents’ needs. This collaboration is yet another example of their joint efforts.”

Holmes further emphasized that integrating efforts between public and private sectors can mitigate future residential challenges within the city.
