Burton Fire: Two Displaced, One Hospitalized

BURTON, S.C. – On Wednesday morning, a fire incident on Bay Pines Road led to two adults being displaced and one person being sent to the hospital. Authorities responded swiftly to the scene.

The person transported by Beaufort County EMS suffered from non-life threating injuries, the Burton Fire District (BFD) said.

Firefighters reached the location shortly after 9:30 a.m. and found a fire emanating from a side room of a double wide mobile home, which suffered significant damage.

BFD said the older resident did not have insurance and is asking for assistance. To help, please contact the Burton Fire District.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the home lacked functional smoke alarms. The BFD emphasized the critical role of smoke alarms in not only providing residents an opportunity to evacuate, but also in alerting them to fires when they’re still manageable. This early detection could potentially minimize damage.
