Calvary Day, Bulloch Academy earn wins in Erk Russell Classic

STATESBORO, Ga. () — The Calvary Day and Bulloch Academy football teams secured victories on August 16 at Paulson Stadium during the 14th edition of the Erk Russell Classic.

In the opening match, Jason Cameron marked his debut as head coach for Calvary Day. The Cavaliers dominated Beach with a score of 37-0 by halftime, which ultimately remained unchanged to the end.

The Cavaliers have a week off before they host Oceanside Colligiate. Last year, Oceanside defeated Calvary Day, 16-15, in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

In the evening game, Bulloch Academy defeated Portal 49-20. This triumph is significant for the reigning GIAA state champions against a GHSA school, following their narrow 19-18 win in last year’s contest.

Bulloch Academy’s ball-control offense significantly shortened the game. As an example, their first drive of the ball ate 6:15 off the clock.

Bulloch Academy will look to improve to 2-0 with a win next week at home against Claxton.
