In a moment of triumph and celebration, the Calvary Day baseball team was awarded their state championship rings on October 17, just before the school’s football team faced off against Johnson in Savannah, Georgia. This event marked a significant achievement for the team, as they clinched the Class 3A-A state championship by defeating Savannah Christian back in May. This victory added a third state title to the Cavaliers’ illustrious history in the sport.

Phillip Lee, who has been at the helm of the team from 2015 to 2024, shared insights into the meaning behind these cherished rings. “There are two special things about the rings,” Lee remarked. He highlighted the arduous journey the team endured, playing 32 out of their 35 games away from home, which amounted to an impressive 7,292 miles traveled over the season. These figures are etched on the inside of the rings, symbolizing their relentless dedication. Additionally, the rings bear the team’s guiding principle, ‘To God gets the glory,’ which served as their mantra throughout the year.

Looking ahead, Georgia schools will commence baseball practice on January 19, 2026, with the first official contests slated to begin on February 9, 2026. The Calvary Day team will undoubtedly aim to build upon their recent success and continue their legacy in the seasons to come.

“Thirty-two of our 35 [games] were on the road,” Lee said. “So it’s added up to be 7,292 miles that we travel this year. So that’s on the inside. And then also on the inside is just kind of our mantra that we live by all year long is ‘To God gets the glory.’”

The earliest date Georgia schools can start practice for baseball is Jan. 19, 2026. The earliest date for a contest is Feb. 9, 2026
