CBP: $10M in liquid meth seized at this South Texas port of entry

McALLEN, Texas (Border Report) Over $10 million in hidden liquid methamphetamine was seized from a truck at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection says.

The seizure occurred Sunday after CBP officers say they sent a woman driving a Dodge pickup truck for secondary inspection.

A non-intrusive inspection system scan and canine officers noticed nearly 1,149 pounds of liquid methamphetamine hidden in an external fuel tank, CBP said in a statement Thursday.

The drugs have a street value of $10.5 million, CBP says.

“Our frontline CBP officers maintained strict vigilance, utilized high tech tools and took down a significant amount of liquid methamphetamine,” Eagle Pass Port Director Pete Beattie said. “Seizures like these illustrate perfectly CBP’s ongoing commitment to upholding CBP’s border security mission and protecting our communities.”
