Gibson City drive-in to host celebration of life for co-owner

GIBSON CITY, Ill. (WCIA) — Gibson City’s Harvest Moon Twin Drive-in Theatre will be celebrating and honoring the memory of one of its owners.

On July 27, the drive-in will host a Celebration of Life for Nora Harroun, who died following complications related to an open heart surgery.

“In honor of her memory and the enduring legacy she imparted to me, I will be hosting a Celebration of Life for her at the drive-in on Sunday, July 27th. This event provides an opportunity for people to gather, express appreciation, and support an extraordinary young woman who was taken from this world and those who loved her far too soon,” Nora’s husband, Ben Harroun, wrote on the drive-in’s website.

A selection of food stands will be operational, with proceeds from the event going towards supporting the family, covering medical expenses, and contributing to charities that held significance for Nora. Tab’s Chocolate will also participate in the event.

The drive-in has planned a screening of Pride and Prejudice, which was Nora’s favorite film. Prior to the film, a photo/video slideshow montage dedicated to Nora will be shown, followed by a eulogy broadcasted over the radio. While the show is free to attend, the drive-in will “graciously accept donations” from those present, stated Harroun.

“While Nora was a simple person who loved spending time with family and friends, and our fur babies at home, she also loved the drive-in. She loved interacting with people, seeing the kids laughing, the couples falling in love and families coming together to make memories. The fact that she got to do that alongside me, her husband, was a bonus that she really enjoyed,” Harroun wrote.
