Shutdown uncertainty on the minds of Central IL farmers

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The ongoing government shutdown is having widespread effects across the country, with farmers in Central Illinois feeling a significant impact.

The Farm Service Agency (FSA), which operates under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), experienced a three-week closure. Although the offices have reopened, staffing remains limited to just two employees per county, presenting challenges in fulfilling the needs of local farmers.
