Champaign Co. Crime Stoppers announces 6 arrests, $11k in rewards through tips in May

In CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Champaign County Crime Stoppers is highlighting the valuable contributions of anonymous tipsters in May, which have significantly aided law enforcement efforts to enhance safety in Champaign County.

The officials reported that throughout the month, tips provided by the public led to six arrests, the confiscation of four illegally possessed firearms with ammunition, and the seizure of illegal drugs and related packaging materials.

The organization’s Board of Directors sanctioned $11,100 in cash rewards, which included four separate $2,500 awards as part of the Illegal Gun Bounty Reward Program.

“Once again, the public came through to provide anonymous information that took dangerous felons and illegal weapons and drugs off the streets of Champaign County,” said John Hecker, President of Champaign County Crime Stoppers. “Crime Stoppers works thanks to the trust and support of our community members, the local media, and law enforcement. Thank you to all those who submitted tips or otherwise help support our nonprofit organization.”
