CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Salvation Army in Champaign County is running low on canned goods, so they’re turning to the community for help.

The Salvation Army is inviting local residents to help stock their truck with canned goods. They will be organizing a canned goods drive on July 14 in Champaign, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers will be stationed in the front parking lot to collect the donations.

If you can’t participate on July 14, there are other ways to contribute. The Salvation Army is also conducting a hygiene drive with the aim of filling 500 drawstring bags with essentials for high school students in the area before classes commence in August. The organization also mentioned that they are continually seeking more volunteers. For further details, you can call 217-607-9445 or email Aaron.Bird@usc.salvationarmy.org.
