UPDATE: Coroner identifies driver killed in Sunday Effingham Co. crash

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A garage in Champaign was struck by gunfire multiple times late last week. Although there were no injuries reported, several residents, including minors, were inside the house during the incident.

Champaign Police officers responded to the vicinity of N. Market and E. Roper Streets shortly before 10 p.m. on July 30 following a report of gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the garage had been struck multiple times. The Champaign Police Department informed WCIA that it is unclear if the shots were aimed at the structure.

Residents were home at the time, but no injuries were reported.

As per a police media report, individuals present in the home included a 7-year-old, a 9-year-old, a 15-year-old, an 18-year-old, and two adults in their 30s. The Champaign Police Department’s media reports are publicly accessible records of incidents that occur within city limits.
