CHATHAM COUNTY, GA. () — The Chatham County Health Department (CCHD) is offering free mammograms for qualifying women in Aug. 26.

Early treatment significantly boosts the survival rate for breast cancer. As reported by the CCHD, this type of cancer ranks as the second most diagnosed and is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women.

The mammograms will be available only by phone appointment for women aged 40 or older without health insurance coverage.

The St. Joseph-Candler mobile mammography unit will offer services at the main health department’s clinic parking lot. You can find this location at 1395 Eisenhower Drive, and screenings will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To schedule an appointment, call the CCHD’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP) at 912-356-2946 or 912-307-9235.
