CHATHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — The Chatham Police Department is highlighting community partnership after recovering a stolen $24,000 ATV.
Department officials took to Facebook to highlight the case. They said that after the ATV was stolen, they used technology, “some good old-fashioned police work, and a little help from the public” to find the ATV within 96 hours of it being stolen.
It was found in a remote location “several counties away from Chatham.” In addition, officers were able to identify the thief and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
“Friends, THIS is exactly what a great public safety and community partnership is supposed to look like!” officials said. “We would also like to thank the following agencies for their assistance and cooperation with us on this case: The Illinois State Police, the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Office, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and the White Hall Police Department.”
