Child seriously injured in horse-drawn buggy crash in Ohio


MILTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) A child suffered serious injuries after a crash involving a horse-drawn buggy and a truck in Ohio on Tuesday.

Around 6 p.m. local time, the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the crash on State Route 96.

According to state troopers, the buggy was heading east on the highway, and a Dodge Ram was driving behind it when they collided.

The buggy, driven by a 19-year-old Ohio man, was carrying three children. One child was taken to University Hospital Ashland Samaritan Hospital and later flown to Akron Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

The truck was being driven by a 19-year-old man.

State troopers did not say if anyone else suffered injuries in the crash.

The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office and Ashland Fire Department were also called to the scene.

State Route 96 was shut down for about an hour while crews cleared the scene.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
