JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Authorities in Johnson City are delving into a death investigation following the discovery of a human skull at Pine Oaks Golf Course on Thursday evening.
The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) reported that officers were dispatched to the golf course on Buffalo Road after receiving a call about a skull found in a wooded section of the property.
A statement from the JCPD indicated that experts at the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center at East Tennessee State University confirmed the skull to be human. The skull was subsequently transported to the center for a thorough examination.
On Friday morning, the JCPD Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from a cadaver dog from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, scoured the area but uncovered no additional evidence.
The JCPD emphasized that the investigation remains active, and further details will be shared as they become available.
