CLERMONT, Fla. – The largest community event in Clermont returns this weekend.
The 26th annual Pig on the Pond festival will be held at Waterfront Park from March 28 – March 30.
More than 100 vendors will be on hand for the three-day festival. Some 20,000 people are expected to attend, taking part in a carnival, live entertainment, including pig races and a pet costume contest, as well as fireworks and lots of barbecue.
Amanda Nethero, who helps organize Pig on the Pond, says the one must-do event is the pig race.
“So you’re going to see pigs of all shapes and sizes and you’re going to pick the one that you love the most and watch them race and hopefully you win,” said Nethero.
The festival is also for a good cause. It raises $40,000 a year for college scholarships for local students.
Tickets are $3 for kids, $5 for adults. Children under 2 are free.
The event runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. -10 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Sunday. For a schedule of all the barbecue, pet costume contests, and other events, click here.
