BEMENT, Ill. (WCIA) — Jody Shonkwiler, the Activities Director for the Village of Bement, sat down with WCIA’s Taylor Mitchell to discuss upcoming community events.

This Thursday through Saturday, the town will host its annual garage sales. Following that, on Sunday, Bement will present their Music in the Park event, featuring a free concert from 4-7 p.m. at Veterans Park. This event will showcase three musicians alongside various food trucks.

Additionally, the village is gearing up for a large Fourth of July celebration organized by the Bement Community Council. The festivities kick off with a 5K and a 1-mile “fun walk” at 8 a.m. at Forest Preserve Park. Following the 2 p.m. parade, more activities will be available from 3-6 p.m. Notably, for the first time, attendees can watch the fireworks display from the football field, starting at dusk.

July 12 will be the next Music in the Park event, also from 4-7 p.m. at Veterans Park and will feature the Pizazz Band.
