() A Colorado father who murdered his pregnant wife and two young daughters in 2018 believes God has “forgiven” him.

Chris Watts, currently serving a life sentence at the Dodge Correctional Institution in Wisconsin, described himself as a “new creature” in letters he wrote from prison, according to the Daily Mail.

In August 2018, Watts admitted to killing his wife, Shanann, who was 15 weeks pregnant, at their home in Frederick, following her return from a business trip.

He transported her body to his work location and disposed of it, while also suffocating his two daughters, 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste, placing their bodies in oil tanks.

“I am a changed man and no longer the person who committed those terrible acts. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, ‘If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.’ That describes me. I am a new creature,” Watts expressed in his writings.

Watts also wrote that it has been most challenging to give himself grace, despite his opinion that God has done so.

“I understand that God does not view me as a sinner who took his family’s life; instead, he sees me as His child. I have admitted my wrongdoings and am forgiven. The most challenging part was forgiving myself,” he shared in his letter.

Watts’ alleged motive for the murders was to be with his mistress, Nichol Kessinger.

In a previous letter, he described her as a “harlot” and a “Jezebel.”

“She was just everything my wife wasn’t like with me. She was just nice, and not a control freak. We could make decisions together,” he wrote.
