Warrants have been issued to access the cellphones of Emmanuel Haro’s parents as authorities persist in their efforts to locate the missing 7-month-old in Southern California.

The disappearance of Baby Emmanuel was reported on August 14. According to his mother, the child was abducted from a Big 5 Sporting Goods parking area in Yucaipa by an unknown individual who assaulted her, rendering her unconscious while she was changing his diaper.

On Wednesday, officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department disclosed that they received a report of a potential sighting of Emmanuel in nearby Kern County, though his whereabouts remain unknown.

Fire near missing baby’s home

The department also stated that a recent fire at a neighbor’s property close to the family’s residence in Cabazon, California, is not suspected to be connected to the child’s disappearance.

“We understand and share the community’s concern over this case, and we will continue to disseminate information as long as it does not compromise the investigation,” the department stated.

“Investigators have pursued leads regarding sightings of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, yet his location is still unconfirmed. While Emmanuel’s father has acquired legal representation, should the parents decide to collaborate with detectives, we are open to their cooperation as we strive to find Emmanuel.”

“We are also aware of the fire reported at a neighbor’s property near the Haro home in Cabazon and have been in contact with the investigators of that incident. At this time, we have no information indicating the fire is related, and we will continue to communicate with fire investigators as their investigation progresses.”

Emmanuel Haro’s parents’ plea

Part of the investigation into the baby’s disappearance has focused on his parents, Jake and Rebecca Haro.

The sheriff’s department said Rebecca Haro declined to be interviewed further when asked about inconsistencies in her story about Emmanuel’s disappearance. Detectives have not been able to rule out foul play.

Jake Haro’s lawyer, Vincent Hughes, told “Banfield” on Tuesday that both parents voluntarily turned over their electronic devices and their passwords.

Hughes made it clear he only represents Jake, not Rebecca, and said Jake is willing to do whatever he can to help bring Emmanuel home.

“The reason I’m on the show, to be very clear, is they’re begging for the public to help,” Hughes said. “They’re begging for people to provide information.”

“I don’t know where that statement that they stopped cooperating came from,” Hughes said. “I spoke to the detectives yesterday, offered for Jake to continue to speak with them; have not been made aware of any requests today to speak with Jake.”

Hughes acknowledged Jake Haro’s criminal past. Haro and his ex-wife pleaded guilty to willful child cruelty after their then-10-week-old daughter was admitted to a hospital with broken bones in 2018, according to The Orange County Register.

He is due in court on Sept. 2 after being accused of being a felon or addict in possession of a firearm, the newspaper reported.
