Danville AMBUCS Celebrates a Century of Service: A Look at 100 Years

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Diane Carlyon and Abby Carlton from Danville AMBUCS joined WCIA’s Taylor Mitchell to discuss their organization’s century-long journey and how they plan to celebrate it.

Danville AMBUCS reached its 100-year milestone on April 15, and they have several celebratory events lined up this summer. A highlight is a live band performance set for June 20 at the Turtle Run Banquet Center. This event will welcome national board members from around the country, along with Danville AMBUCS members and the public.

The festivities continue the next morning, June 21, with Challenger Baseball, featuring eight teams of young players. Later in the day, AMBUCS will gather at Big Thorn Brewery in Georgetown for an evening filled with good food, drinks, and enjoyable discussions.

Challenger Baseball is one of Danville AMBUCS biggest projects of the year. This year, they increased from six to eight teams, and they play every Saturday in June from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Super Soccer program for special needs children and adults will also be starting in September, with registration open now.
