City of Danville receiving national award for Garfield Park aquatic center project


DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Danville is celebrating a national accolade for its transformation of the Garfield Park Pool into the new Aquatic Center at Garfield Park.

On Friday, the city shared the exciting news of receiving the Project of the Year Award from the Illinois Chapter of the American Public Works Association. Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr. will accept the prestigious award at a dinner during this year’s APWA IL Conference in Peoria. He will be joined by Dave Ruwe, Director of Public Works & Engineering, along with representatives from the contracting teams responsible for designing and constructing the state-of-the-art water facility.
