DeLAND, Fla. – An early Saturday shooting at a bar in DeLand resulted in a man’s death and a bartender being injured, according to the police, who mentioned the suspect is still at large.

According to a news release from the DeLand Police Department, officers and Volusia County deputies arrived at McCabe’s Bar on N. Amelia Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Witnesses reported that a brawl erupted among several men at the bar, culminating in one of them brandishing a weapon and firing it.

Authorities identified the deceased as 32-year-old Keshod Harris from DeLand, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and passed away after being transported to a nearby hospital. The bartender also sustained injuries after being shot in both hands but was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police stated in the release.

The suspect ran away, possibly fleeing in a vehicle, and had not been located at the time of this report, police said.

“The DeLand Police Department encourages everyone to stay alert and work together to help bring justice for the victim and their family,” the release states.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the DeLand Police Department or to submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers. Tips can also be made out to DeLand police or the Volusia Sheriff’s Office by calling 386-626-7400. Emails to Detective Jackson Miller at millerja@deland.org were also encouraged.

Tips through CrimeLine which lead to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000, police said. Those may be submitted by calling 800-423-TIPS (8477).
