Two injured, one sustains life-threatening injuries in Decatur crash

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Two people were hurt in a crash, with one suffering life-threatening injuries early Saturday morning in Decatur.

Just after midnight on July 26, Decatur Police officers were dispatched to 821 N Sunnyside Road about a single-vehicle accident. According to preliminary findings, a white Buick Regal traveling southward on the 1000 block of N Sunnyside Road lost control around the railroad tracks.

The driver of the Buick was a 25-year-old male from Decatur while the passenger was a 19-year-old female from Decatur.

Both occupants of the vehicle were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital following the incident. The driver was soon transferred to a trauma center due to life-threatening injuries, whereas the passenger sustained only minor injuries and was treated there.

The Fatal Accident Investigation Team also attended the scene and is currently conducting an investigation into the crash. At this moment, no additional details are available.
