Decatur Fire Dept. responds to Saturday night house fire

The Decatur Fire Department was called to a significant garage fire early on Saturday morning, prompting an investigation.

Just before 3 a.m. on October 11, reports came in about a garage ablaze. Upon arrival, the initial crew encountered a fully engulfed detached garage on East Mueller Avenue, with a nearby garage also at risk.

The first team deployed a handline to shield the neighboring structure while a second crew followed with another handline to combat the flames. Additional teams assisted with gaining access and securing a water source, leading to a swift extinguishing of the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Decatur Fire Department’s Investigation Bureau, and various units from the department were involved in the response.
