Diane Ladd's final movie was shot in the Coastal Empire

Renowned actress Diane Ladd passed away on Monday at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances and heartfelt connections.

Ladd, who was nominated for an Academy Award three times, delivered her final cinematic performance in the picturesque setting of the Coastal Empire in 2022. The film, titled “Isle of Hope,” featured Ladd as a mother who reconnects with her estranged daughter, portrayed by actress Mary Stuart Masterson, amidst the challenges of illness.

Reflecting on Ladd’s passing, Beth Graves Nelson, former Executive Director and Film Commissioner of the Savannah Regional Film Commission, shared a moving tribute on social media. “I am mourning the loss of my friend, Diane Ladd,” Nelson wrote. “She was an amazing woman, and I am proud to have known her.”
